For the serious fisherman and his or her non fishing partner, Tiamoresorts offers unparalleled luxury: from heavenly rooms and service to fine dining, relaxation, amazing water based activities and, of course, world class bonefishing.
Don Causey, Editor of the world famous, Angling Report, recently wrote *of his visit to Tiamoresorts:
‘The South Bight is, quite simply, a world class place to fish. The fish are big and relatively un-pressured. North and South of the mouth are miles of almost un-fished flats. Bonefish of ten pounds are not unusual. Having access to this kind of *fishing while staying at such an amenity-rich luxury resort is truly quite remarkable’
Considered to be the largest unexplored tract of land in the western hemisphere, at 100 miles long by 40 miles wide, Andros Island sits in the middle of the Great Bahama Bank. It is flanked to the East by The Tongue of the Ocean, a deepwater trough, a mile off shore, that drops to more than five thousand feet. Along the edge of “the drop” lies the third largest barrier reef in the world. To the West, the fabled West side where few anglers have graced its waters, let alone cast a fly. Tiamo’s location makes the West side easily accessible unlike few other fishing facilities in the Bahamas – just a 20 minute boat ride from the dock.
Bone fishing at Tiamo could not be easier. There is no need for a car journey or long boat ride to meet your guide, just walk down the beach from your cottage and meet him right at the dock or talk through the day with him on the fisherman’s deck right on the water.
The Tiamo WorldCat Sportfishing boat also means that blue-water fishing for species like dorado, wahoo and yellow-fin tuna as well as bottom fishing for an incredible variety of snapper, grouper and other reef fish are on offer.
Fishing within the resort is also superb; just walk down the private beach or have one of the boat captains drop you off down shore and you can wade safely back to the resort, casting as you go. Or hop on a kayak and go exploring for yourself. The options are endless. We are happy to loan tackle and also have a well equipped shop with fishing essentials.
